Dream Big… and then some!|Utah\Nashville photographer

Is something missing in your life?  Do you feel like you’re stuck in a rut?  Are you tired of looking at other people and wondering why they have all the luck? Chances are it’s far from luck!  Maybe it’s time for you to add a little dreaming and hard work back into your life.  I think sometimes as we become adults and get caught up in the daily routine of things, we forget how important it is to dream!  If your life is no longer one of joy, then maybe it’s time to make some changes.  Maybe it’s time you brought back some of those childhood dreams you once held so dear.  Maybe this year is the year for you to FLY!  It is possible to make those dreams a reality.  All it takes is a BELIEF IN YOURSELF and A LOT of HARD WORK!  As I have said many times, “anything worth having, is worth working for.“  Today is your day! This year is YOUR year!  Start making your dreams become your reality!  Have a great weekend everyone!

What’s the word? |Utah/ Nashville photographer

So I have read in the past about how some people will choose a “word” to use as a “go to” word for the year!  for example if your life seems chaotic and crazy, “Simplify” might be your word of the year.  Well, I really like this idea A LOT!  But I thought I’d modify it a little bit and make it a quote.  Many of you who are friends of mine on FB,  already seen this the other day and I have to say the more I have thought about it the more it has resonated with me this week.  So I have decided to make it my quote for the year.  And you may have noticed that it got a center stage position on my “Vision board”.  I know that this year is going to be a year of lots of growth for me.  And I also know that it will be very difficult at times to be so far away from my family.  But, I am hopeful that my “risky/uncomfortable” choice will definitely be the one that sees me grow exponentially! I have to say that this is definitely one of the hardest things I have ever done in my life.  Living in the same state for 43 years has become quite comfortable.  I am excited and ready to get “uncomfortable”.  So what will your word/quote be this year?

Vision Boards |Utah/Nashville photographer

Nothing says “feel better” like eating healthy!  I’m telling you, I have been back on my Body for Life Nutrition for over a week now and I feel great!  It’s funny because whenever I eat badly I feel just awful and then when I go back to eating healthy, I feel so great.  So I say to myself, “Why?  when you feel so good when you eat healthy, do you go back to eating poorly when it makes you feel so awful?”  I guess that is the million dollar question because I know we all do it!  Not only do we do it, we seem to do it over and over and over again!  We are gluttons for punishment I guess.  So what will it be that will make us change that pattern? One of the things that Jillian Michaels suggests in her book is to make a “vision board” of the things that you want in your life and then to post it somewhere that you will see it on a continual basis.  Apparently it is all the rage!  So I thought I’d give it a try. I invited a friend over to join me, and I have to say, it was really quite fun and inspiring!  Not only that, my friend found it to be extremely empowering!  And I love the way they turned out.  You’ll notice that I left open space on mine so I can add things to it as I go through out the year.  I’m not sure if this will stop my pattern of falling into the trap of eating unhealthy, but I do think it will keep me more motivated to stay on track with all of my goals for the year. You never know unless you try. so grab a friend and some magazines (or you can go to pinterest) and go to it!

This one is my friends….. Isn’t it great how they are so different?

My favorite easy Healthy chicken |Utah/Nashville photographer

Ok so first of all I’m gonna tell you that one of my favorite things to do is stalk food blogs!  And one of my very favorites is Annie’s Eats  check it out and you will see why! Good cook, I am not!  But like I said before, I do love good food! And the easier it is to cook the better!  So a crockpot is a huge part of my food preparation.  That’s my style of cooking.  Fill it and forget it!  So this is for all of you out there that are like me.  Easy peasey lemon squeezy (Thank my good friend Karen for that one)!

Easy Chicken torillas:

5-6 chicken tenders

1C Salsa

1package of taco seasoning (I like mild but you can choose spicy if you want!).

Fat free  sour cream

monzarella cheese

Mission brand low carb tortillas

 Directions:

Place frozen chicken tenders in Crockpot, mix salsa and taco seasoning together and pour over chicken.  Let cook for 3 hours on low.  Shred chicken with 2 forks. Serve with warm tortillas,  sour cream and cheese!  Viola!  Healthy and super duper easy!

Attitude and Priorities? |Utah/Nashville photographer

I’m convinced that having a positive attitude is the single most important quality you can implement in your life this year.  Not just this year, every year!  But if that is something that you struggle with, then I say this is the year to make a change!  Having a positive attitude will help you in every aspect of your life, whether it be personal, business, mental, spiritual, etc.  In fact I think it is so important that I once wrote a whole book about it (click here to view). But I’m not the only one that thinks it’s important, go to any book store or library and you will find shelves full of books on how to improve your attitude and change your life!  It’s not hard to determine that life’s most successful people have a pretty good handle on positive attitude!  Some practices that I have found helpful in maintaining a positive attitude are Goal Setting, Prioritizing, organization, visualization and having a sense of humor!  Over the next few weeks I would like to touch on these subjects more fully, but for today I will leave you with one of my favorite quotes and a mission.  The quote:

Take control of your destiny, believe in yourself,
avoid negative sources, people, places, things,
and habits. Don’t give up and don’t give in and
you will always be a winner to the person who
matters most . . . YOU!

Your mission should you choose to accept it (lol, I did just see mission impossible… very good show BTW), is to write down your personal goals for the year.  Be specific and write it all down, preferably somewhere you will be able to view it multiple times per day!!!!  Break them into monthly, weekly, or Bi-weekly pieces.  This will make it much easier to see where you are at each week and what you need to be doing to reach your goals.   I can’t stress that enough.  A goal without a written plan is just a dream floating around in the back of your head!  Don’t just say “I want to lose weight.”  Instead break it into smaller more workable pieces such as ” I will lose 2 pounds per week and workout 2-3 times per week.”  See the difference?  Most importantly, no more “I can’ts”, strengthen your attitude by telling yourself, “I can!”  Alright now go get your game on!!! Happy New Year everyone!
