The Littlest heros in our world!|Utah/ Nashville photograper

I had the awesome opportunity to take pictures of this little hero!  She was born premature and has been diagnosed with periventricular leukomalasia, a brain injury that can cause cerebral palsy .  You can learn more about her here. I am lucky enough to be part of an organization that offers photos to these families who go through so many trials with a child who has an illness such as this.  This is the third time that I have been able to participate in this program.  And I have to say that they hold some of my fondest memories as a photographer.  There is just something different about these families.  They truly appreciate that they have to live every moment to the fullest.  Maybe it touches me because I have a sister who has a son with pulmonary hypertension, and I have had to see her family go through so much with him.  Every day with him is such a gift and they don’t forget that for one minute.  I have so much respect for families who experience these kinds of hardships, and my heart goes out to them.  Giving them photos of moments that they will never be able to replace is the least I can do!

I didn’t know you were involved in a program like that! That is absolutely wonderful. The time and effort you put into taking photographs of those sweet children is truly a blessing to their families. I know they appreciate it more than you know. You are giving them a priceless gift.

How true! |Utah/Nashville photographer

I wish that I could post that bigger! It’s so true and I think often time we forget.  The little saying that we said as kids, “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me.”  Just isn’t true.  Words do hurt and they can’t be taken back.  I have been lucky enough this past year that I haven’t had to deal too much with words that can’t be taken back.  And I try to be very careful of what words come out of my own mouth for that exact reason.  We just don’t know how powerful our words can be.  Both in good ways and in bad ways.  And it’s not just what we hear from others, it’s also what we tell ourselves.  I think sometimes that can be even more powerful.  If we tell ourselves that we “can’t” we’re right, if we tell ourselves we “can” we’re right.  Make a choice today to be positive and choose your words wisely, whether you are talking to yourself or someone else.  Remember… words are powerful!

Be Strong!|Utah/ Nashville photographer

I love this photo!  But even more I love the saying.  I don’t know about you but I get so tired of seeing the magazines that grace the grocery store checkout stands, brandishing bone skinny models with absolutely no muscle.  It sends such a negative message to girls in our society that they have to starve themselves, and be stick skinny, in order receive any type of success in this world.  And it’s just so wrong.  It’s so important that we take care of the bodies that we’ve been blessed with, they are such a gift to us and so many of us abuse that gift.  Whether it be by starvation, or overeating, or excessive stress, all of it is is a horrible disservice to the bodies that we have been blessed with.  It is our responsibility to take care of the body that we’ve been given.  Don’t be afraid to be strong and beautiful!

Make it a habit!|Utah/Nashville photographer

What do most highly successful people all have in common, except success;)?  If you were to sit down with them you would find that each of them have specific activities that they do at the same time everyday!  We call them habits!  Now those can be good or bad, but the thing that separates those that never seem to quite make it, from those who are always rising to the top, is positive habits!  Chalene Johnson talks about it extensively in her book “Push”.  Over and over and over again she re-iterates how important it is to have your “to-do” list constantly on your mind.  Obviously this is something that has helped her get to where she is at and that is why she is so passionate about it.  I have to say, that I can see why.  I have only been practicing what she preaches for a little over a week and I have already accomplished so much more than I normally would have.  I haven’t even had 21 days (which is what experts say it takes to make something habit), and I am already looking forward to the things I will be able to accomplish because of my trusty to-do list.  I have even managed to move it to my smartphone where my calendar, my shopping list, my to-do list, my food diary, all my important info is in one nifty application called Awesome-note.  So that is my advice today… find some sort of app that you can move everything into one place preferably on your smartphone… it’s the one thing that most of us have with us ALL the time.  Why not utilize it in every possible way that we can? I think it’s the most positive habit that we can adopt in 2012!  Good luck!

Promotion time!|Utah/ Nashville photographer

Wow! Moving is such a lot of work.  Remind me not to do it often!  And since I am moving in just a few short weeks, I thought now would be a good time to give you a last minute opportunity to get in for your pictures!  I won’t be back in town again until the end of May (which you can certainly book then if want, several people already have!), so here we go.  This promotion will be geared towards high school seniors but anyone can participate.  As many of you know if you follow my face book page, I have been working on a new technique called HDR.  It is so much fun and makes you look pretty “sick” (that’s a good thing!) according to my son Cody!  Most teenagers have some sort of sport or club that they are involved in and at that age you usually look pretty darn good.  Trust me, you probably will never look that great again!  So why not take advantage of it!  Come in for an HDR session, it only takes about 20 minutes!  Then I will process, edit, and drop you into an awesome background and email you the full res file, all for $50.  This is something that I am going to offer at regular pricing but for now it will be on for an introductory offer.  You need to call me to schedule ASAP as I will only be here for another month or so!  Why not get a bunch of friends together and do it all at the same time?  Better yet bring your whole team!  How cool would something like this be, hanging BIG on your wall.  You know you want one….
